Columbus Club Pools Opening Summer 2021

Deck Extension

Dear Valued Pool Members,

The time has come, and the Columbus Club Pools are opening registration for 2021! Under guidance from our governor, the CDC and our local health department, we have put together a plan we hope works best for all. Our current operational plan is to open up our facility for free swim, wading pool usage, picnic grounds (by reservation only, and recreational equipment on the grounds. Pending any new guidance from the CDC and state, operational procedures are subject to change and we will keep ALL our members informed as we get them. We have enacted procedures and policies created last summer subsequent with guidance from around Northern Virginia.

Families that rolled memberships over from last season will be automatically registered and marked as paid for the 2021 season. An email regarding your registration will be sent shortly.

New members, please be on the lookout for registration before this weekend!

Below is verbiage from last year’s operational procedures for reference and are subject to change as we inch closer to opening!

How do we maintain a 10 foot social distancing requirement?

It is imperative we stress that our parents and guardians are required to maintain & monitor social distancing of their families. Our lifeguards are on duty to ensure water safety protocol. They are not on duty to enforce social distancing for families. Anyone under the age of 16 will not be permitted into the facility without the supervision of a parent or guardian. With the local and state guidelines, other area pools have received inspections for non-compliance under VDH and CDC guidelines. With this mandate, ANY individual can report infractions of non-compliance to local authorities resulting in our facility to be shut down. We understand this task sounds daunting and difficult, but we are confident that with assistance of our families we will be able to maintain proper social distancing standards and continue to enjoy the pools for the remainder of the summer.

The Pool Facility:

  • All staff and members will be screened for COVID-19 related symptoms. Front desk staff will screen for the following symptoms, if you are experiencing any of the symptoms below & they are not directly related to any other underlying condition, you will NOT be permitted to use the facilities and will be asked to return home.

If you need direction on who to communicate with, contact information can be found at the front desk. Coaches are required to wear masks while instructing from the deck.
  • Staff will ensure that in standing and seating areas, individuals can remain at least 10 feet apart from those not in their household. Limited furniture in each family designated area on the deck. Non-family members are not permitted to use other designated family plots on the deck. When speaking with non-family members social distancing and masks are required. Any violation of this practice with result in possible loss of time slot for the day. Repeated offences may result in loss of pool privileges.
  • Members under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult when entering and leaving the pool area.
  • 1 hour timeslots for swimming which includes time to enter and exit the pool area, per member per day on a predetermined online reservation schedule. • Staff will use universal precautions when providing medical aid, avoiding mouth to mouth or mouth to mask resuscitation. Staff will use a bag-valve-mask. Universal precautions should include, at a minimum, gloves, masks, and eye protection.
  • The Columbus Club requests that every member shower at home before coming to the pool and be ready to enter the water immediately after entrance wearing his/her swimsuit and with all necessary equipment.
